Johnston Community College Board of Trustees - 1 position; 4 year term
Johnston County Board of Health – 1 position; 3 year term (Applicants must be a Physician)
Johnston County Jury Commission – 1 position; 2 year term
Johnston County Mental Health Board – 2 positions; (One position for a 3 year term and one position to fill an unexpired term ending October 31, 2015) (Pursuant to NCGS § 122C-118.1 applicants may represent, but are not limited to, one of the following categories: a North Carolina physician who when possible, is certified to have completed a residency in psychiatry; a family member or individual from a citizens’ group who represents the interest of individuals with mental illness; an openly declared consumer with developmental disabilities or recovering from an addiction; an individual with expertise in management or business; an individual representing the interests of children; an individual with financial expertise.)
Juvenile Crime Prevention Council – 8 positions; 2 year terms (Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Chief of Police; Substance Abuse Professional; member of the business community; representative of United Way or other nonprofit agency; representative of a local parks and recreation program; a person under the age of 18 years who is a member of the State Youth Council and General Public.)
Library Board of Trustees – 2 positions; 3 year terms
Nursing Home/Adult Care Home Community Advisory Board – 7 positions; 1 year term for new appointees or 3 year term for reappointed members. “No person or immediate family member of a person with a financial interest in a home served by a committee, or an employee or governing board member of a home served by a committee, or immediate family member of a patient in a home served by a committee may be a member of a committee.”
Voluntary Agricultural District Advisory Board - 3 positions; 3 year terms (Applicants should be actively engaged in farming and/or express special interest, experience or education in agricultural and/or land preservation.)

The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will conduct Rezoning Petition and Special Use Permit Application Public Hearings for the following cases on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Room, Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina. After each rezoning case is heard, the rezoning public hearing, which is a legislative hearing, will be recessed and the Board will render a decision. In the case of special use district rezonings, the special use hearing will be heard before reopening the hearing for the next case. The special use hearing is a quasi-judicial hearing where the Board is sitting as judges and will hear factual evidence as testimony.
CASE 13-05: Rezoning Petition : Petition to rezone a 1.18 acre tract located at 582 Old Drug Store Road in Cleveland Township from Agricultural Residential (AR) to Community Business (CB). Tax ID : 06D01015E.

The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the 6:00 p.m. meeting, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, Johnston County Courthouse Annex, Smithfield, NC 27577. The hearing will follow the Rezoning and Special Use Hearings which begin at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment and discussion on a proposed amendment to the Johnston County Code of Ordinances Chapter 14 – Land Development Code, as it relates to an Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance that would be added to the Land Development Code. A copy of the proposed Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance may be downloaded at the link below or by contacting the Clerk to the Board at the Johnston County Courthouse, 207 East Johnston Street, Room 206-B, Smithfield, North Carolina, (919) 989-5100.
