To be eligible for Section 8 assistance, a family must be income eligible, and must complete an application at the Johnston County HAPP office.  All heads of households must be eighteen years old or older.  No household member can have a violent or drug related criminal record.

To initially be income eligible, the family's annual gross income cannot exceed the following income limits.  This is based on household family size.

The only exceptions to the above income limits for determining eligibility are:

* Continuously assisted under the public housing or Section 8 programs;

* Non-purchasing households in the following homeownership programs: HOPE 1, HOPE 2, or other HUD-assisted multifamily home ownership programs covered under 24 CFR 284.173;

* Displaced as a result of the prepayment of a mortgage or voluntary termination of a mortgage insurance contract.
