Rabies Clinics in 2016

County Animal Services Department

To Offer Low-Cost Rabies Clinics

February 25, 2016

2:00pm

Smithfield, NC – The Johnston County Animal Services Department will offer rabies clinics for dogs and cats on Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, April 9, 2016. The clinics will be held from

8:00 – 11:30am and 1:00 – 5:00pm at the Johnston County Animal Services Department located at 115 Shelter Way, Smithfield. Cost is $5.00 per vaccination (cash only).

Protecting your pets by keeping them current on their rabies vaccine is important. Rabies is a severe viral disease that is found in the saliva of a rabid animal and is transmitted most commonly by a bite. All warm-blooded mammals, including humans, are susceptible to rabies.

Dogs and cats who receive an initial rabies vaccination are not considered immunized until 28 days after the vaccine has been administered. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that any animal newly vaccinated or those too young to receive the vaccine (less than three months) not be left outdoors unattended.

For more information, call the County Animal Services Department at 919-934-8474.
