Potential 911 Disruption for Brightspeed Landline Users

For Immediate Release:

Smithfield, N.C. - Johnston County residents with Brightspeed landline service in Kenly, Benson, Clayton (approximately 15,268 customers), and parts of Fuquay-Varina (approximately 5,569 customers) may not be able to reach 911. Brightspeed is actively working to resolve the issue but has not provided a timeline for restoration. Residents are strongly encouraged to use a cell phone to contact 911 if needed. This is not a Johnston County 911 equipment issue.
