Smithfield to Benson East Coast Greenway Feasibility Study - Preferred Routes

After 11 months of work, a preferred route has been created for the Smithfield to Benson East Coast Greenway. All efforts were made to engage the public through an online/physical survey, landowner letters, and three public meetings along the route. The preferred route is a mix of both on-road (76%) and off-road (24%) alignments, along with 4 connections to desired locations throughout the southern part of Johnston County. We want to thank everyone who participated in creating this route alignment, but there are still a couple more months of work to be done to complete the feasibility study and get adoption by both the county commissioners and town councils.
