Hike through History along the Mountains to Sea Trail

Join the Friends of Johnston County Parks and Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site for a guided tour along the Mountain to Sea Trail!

This hike will take place on Saturday, September 28th, and will take about 3 hours to finish, with the trail length being 2.4 miles (easy difficulty level). All ages and abilities are welcome to attend. We will have a tour guide who will broadly give the history of Bentonville Battlefield and use the sites along the trail to illustrate their points and the broader picture of Day 1 of the battle.

Please plan to meet at the Visitor Center (address5466 Harper House Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524) around 9:45 AM to get a briefing from our crew and the tour guide. We plan to start the hike/tour at 10 AM sharp to ensure we have enough time to finish and respect participants' time. We will get a ride from the Visitor Center to the Cole Plantation trailhead, where we will hike back towards the Visitor Center. If you arrive late, you can park at the Cole Plantation parking lot and walk in; maps are available online and at the Visitor Center.

After the tour, we will have light drinks and snacks as a refresher and closing. Hikers should expect to bring water and anything else you need to enjoy this hike.

Please fill out all the information below and we hope to see you the morning of the 28th for an awesome, fun-filled hike through the history of Johnston County!
