Johnston County to Host Documentary Screening Exploring Veterans' Challenges
Smithfield, N.C.- The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) has partnered with Johnston County to host a screening of The Veteran’s Battlefield, the newest documentary from NCACC’s 100 Strong Productions. The screening will take place at Johnston Community College's Paul A. Johnston Auditorium on November 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the screening, the Johnston County Veteran Services Office will have veteran-related vendors and food for attendees in the Great Hall, located inside the Tart Building. Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. for the free event. The Veterans Services Office will also hold a panel discussion, following the screening, that will feature local officials and VA leaders.
The Veteran’s Battlefield is a documentary that explores veterans' challenges in North Carolina and how counties and residents can best support our veteran population. North Carolina is home to around 700,000 veterans and has the eighth-largest veteran population in the nation.
"We are proud to partner with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners on this event," said Johnston County Veteran Services director Robert Boyette. "This will be very impactful for our local veterans, because there will be a lot of information about services, support, and programs that they may be able to benefit from or have never heard about." Boyette added, "We encourage anyone and everyone to attend the event. We want the public to also be informed about the challenges veterans are facing in our community."
