Appointed Positions
PUBLIC NOTICE
AUGUST APPOINTMENTS
The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will be considering the following upcoming appointments. Please note the deadline to apply is July 22, 2024. Applicants must be a resident of Johnston County.
Alcoholic Beverage Control Board – 1 position; 3 year term.
Heritage Commission – 1 position; 2 year term.
Johnston County Board of Adjustment – 2 positions; 3 year term. (New appointees shall be designated as alternate members.)
Board of Equalization and Review – 1 position; 4 year term (Applicant must represent District 6)
Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners – 2 positions; 3 year term. (Please note the Johnston County Board of Commissioners will nominate the appointments at their August 5, 2024 meeting; the nominations will then be sent to the Hospital Authority for review. Upon review and recommendation by the Authority, Chairman R.S. “Butch” Lawter, Jr. will make the final appointments at the Johnston County Board of Commissioners September 3, 2024 meeting.)
Johnston County Board of Health – 3 positions; 3 year term. (Applicants must be a Professional Engineer, Optometrist, or Dentist)
Juvenile Crime Prevention Council – 9 positions; 2 year term. (Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Chief of Police, Representative of United Way or other nonprofit agency, Representative of Local Parks & Rec, Member of business community, three General Public, and two individuals under the age of 21.)
Local Emergency Planning Commission – 2 positions; 2 year term. Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Law Enforcement (City, County or State), Emergency Management 1 position; 1 year term. Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Hospital (Administrator).
Library Board of Trustees – 1 position; 3 year term.
Nursing Home/Adult Care Home Community Advisory Board – 13 positions; 1 year term for new appointees or 3 year term for reappointed members. “No person or immediate family member of a person with a financial interest in a home served by a committee, or an employee or governing board member of a home served by a committee, or immediate family member of a patient in a home served by a committee may be a member of a committee.”
Johnston County Citizens wishing to be considered may submit a short application form to the Clerk to the Board, P.O. Box 1049, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577 by July 22, 2024. Short application forms are available in the Clerk to the Board’s Office, Johnston County Courthouse 207 E.
