Preserving Johnston County's history and future starts with the Johnston County Register of Deeds Office. From birth to death, getting married, and buying a home, we manage the county’s vital records for life’s most important moments. Under the leadership of Register of Deeds Craig Olive, we've transformed record-keeping by moving real estate documents online, upgrading computer systems, and returning over $4 million to the County's budget over the last two decades.

 

Located in the Johnston County Courthouse in Town Of Smithfield, NC, our friendly staff is eager to assist with a wide range of services, from birth and death certificates to marriage licenses and passport services.
