Register of Deeds Office Announces Revenue from Passport Issuances

Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, releases figures generated by his office serving as a Passport Acceptance Facility for the Fiscal Year 2023-24. The Register of Deeds office became a Passport Acceptance Facility in June of 2014. Since that time, the Register of Deeds office has collected over $763,550 in revenue from this service alone. In the 2023-24 fiscal year, the office collected $111,520 in revenue by offering passport services.

Revenue generated from passport services has continued to increase year after year. “As you can see by these figures, having our office serve as a Passport Acceptance Facility is a great way to not only serve the citizens of Johnston County by offering this needed service but it is also a revenue generator for the county. My hope is that the added funds this service generates for the county will help to continue keeping our county tax rate at a minimum,” states Olive.

The office also handles real estate recordings, issuance of vital records, and Notary Public oaths. “My staff and I consider it an honor and privilege to serve in any way that we can and to provide excellent customer service to the citizens of our great county.” states Olive. The Johnston County Register of Deeds office is open Monday – Friday and can be reached at 919-989-5160 or jcrod.org.
